Purple Multigrain Rice (Japgokbap)

This is a simple version of a healthy Korean multigrain rice that has become a weekly favorite in our home. It’s an easy way to make everyday rice more nutritious while still keeping it delicious and family-friendly.

Purple Multigrain Rice (Japgokbap)

Cooking Method: Rice Cooker
Servings: 6

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups medium-grain Japanese rice

  • 1 tbsp black rice

  • 2 tbsp farro

  • ½ cup mixed beans

(Feel free to customize with sweet rice, brown rice, millet, or other grains you enjoy.)

Instructions:

  1. Soak the beans in water for about 1 hour.
    (Tip: Soak a larger batch, drain, and freeze portions for later to save time.)

  2. Add all ingredients to the rice cooker pot and wash until the water runs clear.

  3. Add enough water to cover the rice by about ½ inch.

  4. Cook using the mixed grain setting if your rice cooker has one, or cook according to your rice cooker instructions.

  5. Once cooked, mix everything together and serve warm.

A simple Korean-style rice that adds color, texture, and extra goodness to your everyday meals.
