Spicy Fish Cake Gimbap Recipe (Easy Korean Rolled Rice)
This spicy fish cake gimbap is one of those snacks that you just can’t stop eating. It’s bold, savory, a little spicy, and so satisfying. All you need are a few simple ingredients like fish cake, eggs, and well-fermented kimchi.

Fish cake (sliced): 5 sheets

Chili peppers: 4 (seeded and minced)

Egg Seasoning

Fish Cake Sauce

Soy sauce: 2 tbsp

Chili flakes: 2 tbsp

Minced garlic: 1 tbsp

Oligosyrup (or your sweetener): 2 tbsp

Water: 3 tbsp

Sesame oil: ½ tbsp
Kimchi Seasoning

Chili flakes: 1 tbsp

Kimchi liquid: 3 tbsp

Water: ½ cup

Oligosyrup: 1 tbsp
Rice Seasoning

Salt: 2 pinches

Sesame oil: 1 tbsp

Toasted sesame seeds: a little
Instructions
Step 1. Prep the ingredients
Slice the fish cake into thin strips.
Cut the chili peppers in half, remove the seeds, and mince them.
Step 2. Mix the sauces
In one bowl, mix all the fish cake sauce ingredients.
In another bowl, whisk the eggs with the egg seasoning.
Step 3. Make the egg strips
Heat a pan with a little oil and pour in the egg mixture.
Cook into a thin omelet, let it cool slightly, then slice into thin strips.
Step 4. Stir-fry the kimchi
In a heated pan with a little oil, add the sliced kimchi and kimchi seasoning.
Stir-fry until the liquid reduces and the flavor deepens.
Step 5. Cook the fish cake
Heat a pan with oil, add the sliced fish cake, and start stir-frying.
Pour in the fish cake sauce and add the minced chili peppers.
Cook until the sauce coats the fish cake well.
Finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
Step 6. Season the rice
In a large bowl, mix the warm rice with salt, sesame oil, and sesame seeds.
Step 7. Roll the gimbap
Place a sheet of seaweed on a mat.
Spread a thin layer of rice. Add the cooked fish cake, stir-fried kimchi, and egg strips.
Roll tightly from the bottom up.
(You can add pickled radish or extra veggies if you like.)
Step 8. Finish and serve
Brush sesame oil over the outside of the roll.
Slice into bite-sized pieces and enjoy.
